The 7 reason why as a business you should be on social media, further explained.

70% of America has a social media profile.

In today's world, at least in America, social media has become a staple in our society. My grandma is even on social media, granted she doesn't know how to do much of anything on it but she is still using it. According to Statista Global, 70% of the United States is on Social Media. If there is 325.7 million people living in the US as of 2017, that means there are 227,990,000 people who have a social media profile. As a business, why wouldn't you want to tap into that market? And remember, that is just in the US.

Reach your perfect audience

Social media has an uncanny ability to attract your perfect audience. For example, if you are selling golf equipment and you consistently post golf related posts on your social media channel than people who love golf will naturally start following your page (if they like your content). Now, you can sell to these people who you already know are far more likely to buy.

Build Followers

As advises as this is, it is an essential part of being on social media as a business.  Building a following allows for free marketing. Yes, it may take some time to build that following. But what better reason to start now!

Traditional methods are not working anymore.

If you look around, you will find that brick and mortar stores are closing left and right. Huge companies that have been around for decades are going bankrupt. Why? Some of the experts in today's marketing world, like Gary Vaynerchuk and Tai Lopez, say its due to companies stuck in the past. Today's marketing is revolved around social media, that is where the attention is. There are more people watching youtube videos than there are people watching tv. As of January 2018, there are 2.2 billion active users on Facebook alone. The people's attention today is not focused on magazines, newspapers, billboards, or even television. So why invest money in mediums that are overpriced when you can get better ROI for less investment on social media.

Legitimacy. If you aren't on Social Media, you basically don't exist.

Have you ever come across a new company, business, or individual you were curious about so you went online and tried finding their social media? It is a very common thing to do. I do it, and almost everyone I know does it.  What a better way to prove your legitimacy as a company than to have a presence on online.  It builds a relationship with your customers.

Customer Service Opportunities

Social media is a great way to connect with your customers. As a business customer service is a huge part of getting returning customers. Leverage the platforms and create a customer service line where your customers are able to comment, tag, DM, or post about your company. Now you have the ability to not only know if they love your product but better-yet know if they have complaints. The complaints can then be addressed immediately to alleviate customers frustration and now there is data to make changes in the company if needed.

Brand Development

Building your company as a brand has many positive effects on your business. The biggest being the value of your product or service. When you have a brand people associate you with whatever your brand identity is. For example, as an event planner, one could brand themselves as the "Beverly Hills", pick any city, Event Planner. So naturally, when someone has an event in that city they would hire the "Beverly Hills" Event Planner over anyone else. Why? Because that event planner is branded as being the expert in that area, so of course the people would want to go with the expert. Now as being an expert, you have the ability to charge more than others. You know more about the subject than anyone else, this case being event planning, and you have the ability and credibility to accomplish what is needed. This works for any business, pick a niche, build a brand around it, and market. Social media provides the platforms to accomplish everything you need to build your brand if used correctly.
